Jean Marquise cut Iolite and Diamond ring

The Marquise cut’s origin dates back to the 18th century when King Louis XV of France commissioned a jeweller to design a cut shape that resembled the lips of his mistress, Jean Antionette Poisson.

Drawing inspiration from this romantic history of this distinct shape we designed a scroll detail in the ring to cast your mind back to the Baroque design period. To create some added richness in colour we placed 18ct yellow gold around the center stone, and created the claws using a triangular profile shape.

What would Royalty be with out diamonds? Not much… So we just could not leave off this detail. We used 18ct white gold so that our diamonds would be displayed to their full effect.
